包樂史(Leonard Blusse)
包樂史，原名為賴納德‧布塞斯。一九四六年出生于荷蘭阿姆斯特丹。早年曾到臺灣和日本進修。一九七二年獲荷蘭萊登大學漢學博士學位。一九八六年獲歷史學博士學位。論文為《Strange company : Chinese settlers, Mesitzo women and Dutch in VOC Batavia》。一九七二年至一九七五年在日本京都大學人文科學學院擔任研究員。一九七五年至一九七七年任萊登大學印度尼西亞研究計劃主任。從一九七七年起在萊登大學歷史系任教，現為該系教授。主講“歐洲與亞洲關係史”，同時也兼任萊登大學歐洲擴張史研究中心主任和荷蘭國際亞洲研究中心主任等職。一九九一年至一九九二年獲美國富布萊獎學金前往普林斯頓大學擔任訪問教授。包教授通曉英文、中文、日文、印尼文、荷蘭文和多種歐洲語文。主要研究興趣有“東南亞和東亞史”﹑“海外華僑史”﹑“印尼華人史”﹑“華僑貿易”和“殖民地時代貿易與文化”等課題。他曾利用荷蘭東印度公司檔案資料撰寫了多本專著和多篇論文。主要是研究十七、十八世紀東南亞華僑史、東南亞華僑貿易和當時華僑的社會問題。
包教授一生從事亞洲史的教學與研究工作，對海外華僑史，尤其是印度尼西亞華僑史有深入的研究。著作宏豐﹐主要有《Strange company》，《Tribuut aan China》和《Bitters bruid》等二十多種及有關論文數十篇。他的主要著作已有多國譯本。其名著《Britters bruid》（英文譯本《Bitter bonds》）曾獲荷蘭“金質貓頭鷹文學獎”（Golden Owl Award)。此書也曾榮登荷蘭和德國書籍暢銷排行榜。在他的著作或論文中有關華僑史的有《奇怪的夥伴》﹑《中荷交往史》﹑《十七世紀初西方對西爪哇華人社會的印象》﹑《北大年的華商》﹑《荷蘭東印度公司時期中國對巴達維亞的貿易》﹑《巴城公館檔案研究》﹑《巴達維亞華人與中荷貿易》及《東南民族研究》等多種。他曾擔任Itinerario : European Journal of Overseas History主編和Modern Asian Studies編輯多年。他是荷蘭著名的漢學家，也是研究華僑史的專家。有關Leonard Blusse教授的個人網頁﹐請點擊﹕http://leidsewetenschappers.leidenuniv.nl/show.php3?medewerker_id=660
